The breakthrough comes after a series of kidnappings in ACO Community, Gwagwalada, and Bwari prompted decisive action from the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Bala Hassan.
On 30 November 2025, at approximately 2:11 p.m., operatives arrested Sani Mohammed Umar, also known as Boko, a key conspirator in the criminal syndicate.
Officers recovered his mobile phone, suspected to be the primary device used to coordinate kidnappings and armed robberies across Gwagwalada, Kuje, and Kwali.
Investigations revealed that Umar’s gang had assembled at Gada Biyu Hills, Kwali, to launch another attack.
At around 11:01 p.m., the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, led by the Officer-in-Charge, tactically advanced into the forest and ambushed the gang. A fierce 30-minute gun duel ensued after the heavily armed criminals opened fire.
The operation resulted in the neutralisation of three gang members, while others escaped with suspected injuries.
Recovered from the scene were three AK-47 rifles, three magazines, and thirty-three rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.

A joint operation with the Nigerian Army’s Forward Operation Base, 176 Battalion, Kwali, continues, with security forces combing the forest and blocking all escape routes.
Medical facilities have been alerted to report any bullet-wounded individuals to authorities or contact the Command on 08032003913 or 08061581938.
The Commissioner of Police, Bala Hassan, commended the bravery and professionalism of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and lauded the public for providing vital intelligence.
