At least four people feared dead after suspected cult clashes in Alimosho, Ajah, Onipanu, Satellite Town and Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos. Police confirm one case

At least four persons are feared dead following separate suspected cult-related clashes reported in different parts of Lagos State over the past week.

The incidents were reported between Wednesday and Monday in communities including Iyana-Ipaja and Aboru in Alimosho Local Government Area; Badore and Olokonla in Ajah, Eti-Osa Local Government Area; as well as Onipanu near Fadeyi, Satellite Town, and Ibeju-Lekki.

In Badore, one person identified simply as Chidera was reportedly killed on Friday during a clash involving suspected members of the Eiye confraternity and a rival group.

Videos circulating online on Monday and reviewed by our correspondent showed several injured persons in Iyana-Ipaja and Aboru.

The footage showed victims with serious wounds, while others were seen attempting to stem bleeding. The incidents could not be independently verified as being directly linked to cult clashes.

In the Onipanu area near Fadeyi, a man identified simply as Israel was reportedly shot dead. According to sources, the suspected assailant filmed the attack.

At Satellite Town, a man was found dead at NEPA Junction last Wednesday. It remains unclear whether the killing was connected to cult violence.

Similarly, on Monday morning at Baba Adisa Bus Stop in Ibeju-Lekki, a man identified only as Alabama was discovered lying motionless on the pavement.

While official confirmation from the Lagos State Police Command was still being awaited for most of the reported incidents, the command confirmed the Satellite Town case.

The spokesperson for the command, Mrs Abimbola Adebisi, said on Tuesday that only the Satellite Town incident had been verified.

“The receipt of these incidents from you yesterday prompted me to reach out to all the DPOs in charge of the locations you mentioned.

None confirmed the incidents, except the one at Satellite Town, which was confirmed as a suspected murder,” Adebisi said.

She added that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, for further investigation.

Lagos has witnessed recurring attacks and reprisals linked to cult-related violence. In 2025, at least 10 persons were reportedly killed within 10 days in separate incidents attributed to cult clashes across the state.
