Funke Akindele opens up about her early struggles in Nollywood and the support she received from colleagues like Sikiratu Sindodo and Iyabo Ojo
[dropcap]N[/dropcap]ollywood star Funke Akindele has shared a touching reflection on her early career struggles in the Nigerian film industry, revealing how she used to borrow clothes from her colleague, Sikiratu Sindodo, to appear stylish on movie sets.

In a heartfelt conversation with her best friend Eniola Badmus, Akindele opened up about the hardships she faced before her breakthrough, and how these experiences have shaped her journey.
Currently on vacation with Eniola Badmus and content creator Kamo in Ghana, Funke Akindele expressed her desire to turn her career challenges into an inspiration for others.
Speaking candidly in a viral video shared on Snapchat, the actress acknowledged the significant role her colleagues played in her rise to fame.
She particularly highlighted the support from Sikiratu Sindodo and Iyabo Ojo, who were instrumental in her early days in Nollywood.
“I remember back then when I used to borrow dresses from Tayo Sindodo. Sindodo would help me choose nice ones from her tops if I was going to a movie set,” Funke recalled.
“There was a day when Sindodo saw me carrying a bag after I wasn’t given a role, and she went to meet Uncle Abbey to fight for me.”
Funke also spoke warmly about Iyabo Ojo’s kindness, recounting how she would often offer emotional and practical support. “Iyabo used to stand up and fight for me,” she said.
“She was lucky and very nice to us. Iyabo would say, ‘Don’t worry,’ and she would drive us around in her small red car.”
