The Nigerian Nollywood industry stakeholders were honoured at the Best of Nollywood Awards in Kano last Saturday, December 14, 2019, Nollytrailers reported.
Being a traveling award, the year’s glittering event, held at the Coronation Hall of the Kano state government house, was one of the highlights of the 2019 make-believe industry in the country.
According to the executive producer of the award, Seun Oloketuyi, BON is more than rewarding the thespians and other stakeholders in the industry for their hard work, but to also ensure peace and project the country’s good image.
“BON was created to be a traveling award to go around Nigeria, unite Nigeria and also share dreams,” he said.
On his choice of Kano State to host this year’s edition, Seun said: “For the fact that it is only the north we’ve not been to, we chose Kano because it’s the heartbeat of culture, commerce and everything in the northern part of the country.”
This year’s edition has been rated the best so far by pundits for an award celebrating its 11th year.
Tade Ogidan’s Gold Statue has been one of the biggest stories in the year and all the producer’s efforts were rewarded as it carted away highest awards in different categories at the Best of Nollywood awards, while the veteran Nollywood actor, Sadiq Daba, didn’t only clinched the Lifetime Achievement award, he was also given a monetary gift by the Kano State government, presented directly to him by the executive governor of the state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, OFR.
