According to Saad, the suspects desecrated the grave of an 85-year-old resident of Gadam, just 48 hours after burial at Gadam North Cemetery on 9 September.
After removing the eyes, they reportedly reburied the body to cover their tracks.
Investigations revealed that the suspects confessed to harvesting the corpse’s eyes for ritual use. They claimed they were promised a payment of N500,000 each by one Aliyu, who is currently at large.
Saad assured the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend Aliyu, while the arrested suspects will be charged to court once investigations are completed.
He further emphasised the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities within their communities.
