The announcement was made by Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund.
Goretzka, 29, joined Bayern in 2018 from Schalke and has been a key figure during one of the club’s most successful periods.
He has helped the team secure multiple Bundesliga titles, domestic cups, and a UEFA Champions League trophy.
Christoph Freund said, “Leon Goretzka will leave FC Bayern in the summer as a free agent, not now. Leon’s time at FC Bayern will be over in the summer. He will go another way after eight successful years. We’ll fight together in the coming months to achieve big things.”
The statement confirms that Goretzka will remain part of the squad for the remainder of the season.
Despite increased competition in recent campaigns, the Germany international has remained a respected and experienced presence in the squad.
Bayern and Goretzka will now focus on completing the season’s objectives before he embarks on the next chapter of his career.
Goretzka’s departure marks the end of an era for Bayern Munich, which has relied on his versatility, leadership, and technical skill in midfield during domestic and European campaigns.
