Governance collapse: Dapo Abiodun steering Ogun’s ship like a drunken sailor

The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is again constrained to note how our dear state is daily being bogged down with the unpardonable incompetence of the Dapo Abiodun-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government.

The reverberating cries of suffering members of Ogun state public is an unambiguous confirmation of the PDP position that Mr Abiodun has carried on the business of governance like a reckless stunt of a drunken sailor, steering the ship of state towards a dirty, uninhabitable environment.

While the APC government, through its body of wicked enablers, is preoccupied with a deceitful posture of all-is-well, every discerning mind knows that Ogun state is on the precipice of irredeemable collapse under Mr Abiodun’s watch. Every section of the state is beset with total abandonment while the governor junkets about trying to save his unearned job via shady means.

A recent viral video of the deplorable state of the Sagamu-Ikorodu Expressway demonstrates the nonchalance of the state government to collapsing infrastructure in the state. The sagamu section of that commercially viable road has become a notorious death trap for all road users.

Similar infrastructure collapses litter many parts of the state. Residents of Akute, Alagbole, Ijoko, Ajuwon and other border towns of the state have had to abandon their abodes because roads have become impassable.

Virtually all journeys from any part of our neighbouring states have become a nightmare as responsive and responsible governance has taken flight from our dear state. This is a sad departure from the once bubbling state with unprecedented infrastructural development, superb human capital development, productive local government administration, and excellent youth and sports development initiatives under the PDP government between 2003 and 2011.

The public is invited to note that Mr. Abiodun, haunted by the ghost of a stolen mandate, has abandoned governance. Our findings show that the governor has taken truancy from work to an unprecedented pedestal, failing to show up in the office for the most parts of the recents months.

It is indeed a tragedy to note that the executive arm of government in the state exists without cabinet members to conduct diligent day-to-day business of government in clear contravention of the provision of the country’s Constitution.

As a responsible government in waiting, the PDP urges Mr Abiodun to quickly return home and face governance in the meantime. Our great party, mindful that nature abhors vacuum, have no qualms in having Mr. Abiodun serve in a placeholder role until the courts boot him out for our candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, who was freely given the mandate by the majority of Ogun electorate.

As we urge members of the public to keep hope alive, they should be consoled with the abundant capacity of Hon. Adebutu and his determination to rescue and reposition Ogun state for robust economic recovery and total relief.
