Housing fraud portal has been officially launched by the Federal Government to combat fraudulent practices in housing estates across Nigeria — a major win for accountability and citizen protection.

Unveiled by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, the portal provides a digital avenue for Nigerians to report housing fraud, upload supporting documents, and track complaint outcomes in real time.

Accessible via https://reports.fmhud.gov.ng, the housing fraud portal is designed to be safe, user-friendly, and impactful.

“This is a turning point,” the Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday, emphasizing that fraudulent practices in real estate will no longer be tolerated. Offenders, it warned, will face the full weight of the law.

The portal was demonstrated by two tech consultants: Freestone Investments Limited and Prunedge Development Technologies Limited, both of whom contributed to building the secure platform.

Dr. Marcus Amiolemen, Head of ICT at the Ministry, explained that the housing fraud portal was developed in collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to ensure effective tracking and follow-up on complaints.

Alongside the fraud portal, the Ministry also launched a Contract Performance and Compliance Monitoring System to oversee housing project execution, evaluate contractor performance, and maintain transparency through centralized data on project documents.

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, stated that this initiative is aligned with the 2012 National Housing Policy, which calls for stricter regulation of estate developers, better oversight, and more protection for buyers and residents.

“The platforms demonstrate our commitment to transparency, citizen protection, and efficient service delivery,” he added.
