Engr. Ibraheem Folarin Bello has donated laboratory equipment to Ibadan City Academy in a significant Ibadan STEM donation aimed at enhancing practical science learning and inspiring future engineers
Immediate past chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers Ibadan Branch, Engr. Ibraheem Folarin Bello FNSE, donated laboratory equipment to Ibadan City Academy in Eleta, Ibadan, on Friday 26 June 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen science education and promote practical learning among students.
Engr. Ibraheem Folarin Bello, who serves as Regional Transmission Operations Coordinator of the Transmission Company of Nigeria in the Osogbo Region, said the gesture was intended to improve the quality of science education and provide students with hands-on experiences essential for future careers in science, technology and engineering.
He emphasised that education remains one of the most effective tools for national development, with science education serving as a critical driver of technological advancement and innovation.
The donated equipment would enable students to engage in experimentation, observation and scientific discovery beyond textbook learning.
Bello highlighted the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education in the 21st century, describing it as the foundation for producing innovators and leaders capable of transforming society.
“Nations that prioritise STEM education are better positioned to achieve economic growth, industrial development and global competitiveness,” he noted.
Addressing students, particularly those in Senior Secondary School 3 preparing for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination and NECO, Bello urged them to remain focused on their studies and strive for excellence.
He also advised school leavers to acquire vocational skills such as computer programming, graphic design and electrical installation to complement academic qualifications.
The engineer commended the management and teachers of Ibadan City Academy for their commitment to academic excellence and character development, expressing optimism that the equipment would significantly enhance teaching and learning while inspiring more students to pursue STEM-related careers.
This Ibadan STEM donation reflects Bello’s consistent advocacy for engineering development and practical education through various professional and community initiatives.
As a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, he has held several leadership positions within the profession.
The donation is expected to have a meaningful impact on the school’s science programmes, contributing to the broader goal of building a skilled workforce for Nigeria’s technological and industrial future.
