The Osun philanthropist has offered housing for the late gospel singer’s father in Ikirun and scholarships for his two daughters following public concern over the family’s welfare.

An Osun-born philanthropist and All Peoples Movement (APM) senatorial candidate for Osun Central, Dr Ibraheem Luqman, has pledged housing support for Muniru Adekunle Olayemi, the father of late Nigerian gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, and scholarships for the singer’s two daughters in Ikirun, Osun State, on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, following public concern over the family’s living conditions and future welfare.

The intervention, announced by Luqman’s campaign organisation, comes two weeks after the singer’s death and amid growing public attention surrounding the circumstances of his passing, the welfare of his surviving family and disagreements over his burial arrangements.

According to the campaign statement, Luqman dispatched a delegation to Ikirun to meet Olayemi and communicate his offer of assistance.

The proposed support includes relocating the elderly father to more comfortable accommodation within the town and sponsoring the education of his two grandchildren.

The accommodation offer is intended to provide Olayemi with a more dignified living environment, while the scholarships are expected to help secure the girls’ educational future following the loss of their father.

“Luqman asked us to visit you for two reasons. Firstly, he is concerned about your housing condition,” a member of the delegation told Olayemi in a video of the visit shared online.

The representative explained that the philanthropist had asked the team to find suitable accommodation for the elderly man for at least two years, allowing him to live in greater comfort and peace of mind.

The delegate also outlined the proposed educational support, saying Luqman wanted to sponsor the children’s schooling through to higher education and had sought the family’s permission.

The gesture has drawn attention to the practical challenges confronting families after an unexpected bereavement, particularly where the deceased leaves behind young children and elderly relatives who may require additional support.

However, the campaign organisation described the accommodation and scholarships as offers and pledges.

The statement did not establish that the family had moved into new accommodation or that the scholarship arrangements had been formally implemented.

Toluwanisings died in Ibadan, Oyo State, on 14 October 2026 after reportedly slumping.

The singer’s death prompted widespread concern among fans and members of the gospel music community, while accounts from his personal assistant, Babadunni Gbolabo, raised questions about efforts to obtain emergency medical attention.

Gbolabo alleged that attempts to secure treatment involved visits to several hospitals.

The University College Hospital in Ibadan subsequently said it had no record of the singer being brought to the facility.

The reports reviewed have not established an official cause of death or independently confirmed allegations of hospital rejection.

The singer’s passing has also been followed by disagreements within his family over where he should be buried. His father has expressed a preference for a burial at the house the singer built in Ibadan or, alternatively, beside his late mother in Osun State.

Toluwanisings’ widow, Akanbi Elizabeth, was reported to favour a cemetery or church burial ground, citing concerns about living in a house where her husband would be buried.

The differing preferences have attracted public debate, with relatives also calling for the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death to be investigated. Reports published by Punch Newspapers and Premium Times have documented the family’s concerns and the calls for clarification.

Beyond the burial dispute, the singer’s family history has also emerged in public accounts. Olayemi previously said the singer’s mother died when the child was about six months old and that maternal relatives played a significant role in raising him.

The father also disputed reports about his son’s age, maintaining that the singer was born in July 1992 and was 34 when he died.

The family’s recent gathering in Ibadan provided another emotional reminder of the loss. At a night of tributes held on 27 October, Elizabeth was reported to have broken down in tears while mourning her husband and appealed to the public not to forget her and their two daughters.

Against this backdrop, Luqman’s proposed intervention offers a measure of practical support at a difficult time for the bereaved family.

The education pledge, in particular, could prove significant for the two children if the arrangements are fulfilled, providing a potential source of stability as they grow up without their father.

The campaign organisation said the gesture reflected Luqman’s belief that community responsibility should form part of public service, particularly in supporting vulnerable people facing difficult circumstances.

For the family, the immediate priorities extend beyond public sympathy to the everyday realities of secure housing, education and long-term welfare.

Whether the pledges translate into sustained assistance will depend on their implementation and the arrangements agreed with the family.

For now, the offer marks a significant development in the public response to Toluwanisings’ death, shifting some attention towards the needs of the father and children he left behind.
