ICE detains Nigerian national Ibrahim Tunde Ijaoba, citing multiple convictions including assault, armed robbery, and drug offences ahead of deportation

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has taken custody of Ibrahim Tunde Ijaoba, a Nigerian national, citing an extensive criminal record as he awaits deportation under a final removal order.

According to ICE officials, Ijaoba has convictions for aggravated assault on a police officer involving a firearm, assault, armed robbery, obstruction of justice, drug sales, and escaping police custody.

Authorities stated that he entered the United States without legal authorisation and has been in ICE custody pending deportation proceedings.

ICE spokesperson Michael Rodriguez said, “The apprehension of individuals with serious criminal records is a key part of our mission to enforce federal immigration laws and protect public safety.”

Ijaoba’s case is currently under review, and no release or deportation date has been confirmed.

ICE officials confirmed that the detainee remains at a secure facility while authorities complete legal and administrative procedures.

The case underscores ICE’s continued enforcement of removal orders for non-citizens with convictions for violent and drug-related offences.
