‘Intent established but…’ Nollywood actor’s child molestation video finally released (Watch)

The Punch Newspaper, one of the Nigerian leading newspapers, has finally released the video incriminating a Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, aka Baba Ijesha, over the allegation of child molestation leveled against him by a popular comedienne, Princess Damilola Adekonya, popularly called the Princess.

Recall that on April 19, 2021, the victim’s aunt and who also doubles as her mum reported the case at Sabo Police Station where it was transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba.

In the now deleted video, Baba Ijesha was seen touching the 14year old girl inappropriately while she was not seen to be resisting.

While the embattled veteran actor may claim entrapment as the whole process was set up in order to catch him red-handed, it didn’t erase the offence especially when a minor was involved.

“It is a plus for prosecution as intent has been established,” a Lagos based lawyer said.

Opinions have continued to differ, however, on why the video was released and why the molestation was allowed more than three minutes.

“I believe they are more concerned about sending Baba Ijesha to prison than getting help for the poor girl. In the last seven years that this had first happened, she’s only agonised but done nothing to help the girl. For me, I think what’s unknown to some of us is, she intends to settle a personal score with this case than fight the alleged injustice. If the girl were her real daughter, I bet she won’t opt for this route again, regardless. Methinks,” someone said.

“For me the video just shows a clearly overly randy man who likes younger girls. Unfortunate truth we all know is most men actually like younger women, as can be adduced by the early marriage syndrome on some parts of the country (topic for another day)…but some take that preference for younger women too far and their minds blur the line between “young” and “underage” . And this now manifests as pedophilia,” another added.

A movie producer, who pleaded anonymous, disagreed with the whole production totally.

“Disappointing to say the least… Putting this video out by punch (Punch Newspaper) and the parents of this 14 years old girl is IRRESPONSIBLE, INSENSITIVE, WICKED, TRAUMATIC and DEMONIC. I wonder how this child will cope… Nobody is considering this 14 years ….. every idiot is latching on this BARBARIC, DESPICABLE AND CONDEMNABLE ACT BY BABA IJESHA TO CLOUD CHASE. YOU GUYS SHOULD CONTINUE …..GOD WILL HEAL THIS INNOCENT CHILD. THEY WILL COME WITH THE DEFENCE THAT HER FACE IS BLURRED BUT IT IS BETTER IMAGINED THAN SHOWN. TOTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE,” he lamented.

“I agree with you 100% but naija na funny place ooo if na only holding of hand ijesha for go free no case,” another chipped in.

“I empathise with the 14 year old girl cast in this SICKENING PORNOGRAPHY,” another popular actor added.

Baba Ijesha will definitely have his day in court but when and what about the producers of the amorous video are the questions on Nigerians’ lips.
