I was already a millionaire before meeting Paul Okoye — Ivy Ifeoma

Ivy Ifeoma says women should focus on building their own wealth rather than making marriage to a rich man their primary goal

Ivy Ifeoma, the wife of Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, has sparked debate on social media after sharing her views on relationships, wealth and financial independence for women.

Speaking in a video posted on her TikTok account, Ivy Ifeoma advised single women against making the pursuit of a wealthy husband their primary life goal, arguing that personal financial success should come first.

Ivy Ifeoma said marrying into a wealthy family could create opportunities, but stressed that a woman’s long-term security should not depend on another person’s wealth.

According to her, women should focus on becoming financially stable and successful in their own right rather than relying on marriage as a pathway to wealth.

Addressing longstanding speculation surrounding her marriage to Paul Okoye, particularly claims that she married the singer because of his financial status and the age difference between them, Ivy Ifeoma said she had already achieved millionaire status before meeting him.

“This is my take on the idea of marrying a rich man and before you come for me, know that I was a millionaire before I met this man,” she said in the video.

The social media personality maintained that while marrying a wealthy partner could be a beneficial addition to an already successful life, it should never replace personal ambition.

“Marrying a rich man should not be anybody’s primary goal. Why would you even want to have a primary goal of marrying someone because they are rich? At the end of the day, it is their money, not your money,” she said.

She added that women who build their own careers and wealth are often more attractive to successful individuals, encouraging single women to invest in self-development and entrepreneurship.

The remarks have generated widespread reactions online, with many users praising the message as empowering and practical, while others debated the realities of financial expectations in modern relationships.

The comments also reignited discussions about financial independence, gender roles and the growing emphasis on self-sufficiency among young women navigating relationships in contemporary society.
