Mr. Mukaila Subukola, the father of the schoolgirl, Mariam, who was hit by a stray bullet at Iyana Ipaja during the clash between the police and Okada and Keke Marwa riders, has shared the present health condition of his daughter.

Mariam was hit by a stray bullet when police started firing shots as riders of Keke Marwa and Okada protested the ban on their operations by the Lagos State Government this month.

Speaking with the Punch Newspaper, Mr Subukola revealed that the bullet went in through Mariam’s buttock and ended up in her stomach. He said that she had gone out with a teacher from her school and that there had been no crisis in Aboru as of the time they left the school, however, on their way back, the scene had gone haywire.

He said, “The crisis was a result of the ban on the operations of Okada and (Keke) Marwa riders. The crisis was between Iyana Ipaja and Aboru and police started shooting. That was how a stray bullet hit her. Her intestines came out.

The stray bullet went through her buttock and ended up in her stomach.” Mr Subukola said that he had emptied his account in order to take care of his daughter. He also revealed that the police from Ile-Epo Oke Odo had come with the sum of N20,000 which he rejected.

He called on Nigerians to help him with Mariam’s medical bill. He said, “All I’m concerned about is the wellbeing of my daughter. I have been asked if there is no one who can help us. It (Mariam’s medical bill) is not something that I can handle by myself.”
