JAMB WAEC O’Level verification fee has been fixed at ₦4,000 payable only once by candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) have jointly announced.
In a joint press statement issued on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, the two examination bodies clarified the new arrangement for the verification of West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) O’Level results.
Under the policy, candidates whose admissions are regulated and coordinated by JAMB are required to verify their WAEC results only once through the designated JAMB Verification Service platform. After successful verification, the outcome will be made available to the tertiary institution where the candidate is seeking admission.
“Candidates are to pay ₦4,000 only, once, for the verification of their WASSCE O’ Level results on the specified platform and not through their desired institutions,” the joint statement stated.
JAMB and WAEC directed tertiary institutions to utilise the verified results shared by JAMB for screening, processing of candidate admissions and other administrative purposes. Candidates shall not be required to pay for another verification of the same results.
WAEC has formally authorised JAMB to share the outcome of the verification exercise with relevant tertiary institutions for admission-related purposes.
The new one-off arrangement is designed to reduce the financial and logistical burden previously faced by admission seekers, who often had to undergo repeated verification exercises and pay multiple fees when applying to different institutions.
Candidates can initiate the verification process from the comfort of their homes or any internet-enabled location. The agencies advised candidates to complete the verification through the official JAMB platform and retain their verification information for the admission process.
The clarification effectively ends the practice of institutions demanding separate verification payments from candidates for the same O’Level results already verified through JAMB.
JAMB and WAEC encouraged all prospective candidates to take advantage of the simplified system to avoid unnecessary expenses and delays during the admission exercise.
