The victims were identified as Fatima Abubakar and her six children, who were reportedly attacked inside their home after the assailants broke in and inflicted fatal injuries using dangerous weapons.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the command received a distress call at about 12:10 pm reporting an attack on the household of Haruna Bashir.

Following the alert, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, immediately deployed officers to the scene, with the response team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Lawal Mani.

According to the police, the victims were evacuated to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where medical personnel confirmed that all seven had died.

“The bodies were rushed to the hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival,” Kiyawa said.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, ACP Wada Jarma, has been directed to lead a comprehensive investigation aimed at identifying and arresting those responsible for the attack.

The police command expressed condolences to the bereaved family, residents of Dorayi Chiranchi and the people of Kano State, assuring the public that all necessary measures were being taken to bring the perpetrators to justice.
