The clarification was issued in a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, who said the report circulating on online platforms had no factual basis and was designed to create unnecessary tension.
According to the statement, Governor Yusuf did not intentionally snub the Emir, explaining that he was engaged in official duties outside the state at the time of the event.
The government said the Governor had attended the Eid prayer led by the Emir earlier and had made arrangements for senior officials to represent him during the Hawan Nasarawa ceremony.
It further explained that the Governor was in Lagos attending a scheduled meeting with other state governors, which coincided with the traditional event.
The statement added that the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and other senior officials were delegated to receive the Emir on the Governor’s behalf in line with protocol.
The government emphasised that there is no conflict between Governor Yusuf and the Kano Emirate Council, stressing that their relationship remains cordial and focused on peace, unity, and development in the state.
It urged members of the public to disregard the reports and rely only on verified official communications for accurate information.
