Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Fansan Yamma, have rescued a 40-year-old man from suspected terrorists, recovered 18 rustled cattle and arrested four suspected drug peddlers in separate operations in Kebbi State.
The operations were conducted on Sunday, October 18.
According to a statement by the Media Information Officer of Operation Fansan Yamma, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the first operation followed a distress call over the invasion of Rambo village in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area by suspected terrorists attempting to kidnap residents and rustle cattle.
Troops of Sector 2, working with local vigilantes, mobilised to the community, engaged the suspects in a gunfight and forced them to flee.
The intervention led to the rescue of Suleiman Maiyaki Ikara and the recovery of the 18 cattle. The victim and livestock were handed over to the district head of Rambo village.
In a separate operation the same day, troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with personnel of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, raided suspected drug trafficking locations in Dakin Kowa, Karaye and Gubba communities in Maiyama Local Government Area.
The joint operation resulted in the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of substances suspected to be illicit drugs. The suspects and exhibits were handed over to the NDLEA command in Maiyama for further investigation.
