Kenya medical plane crash near Nairobi kills at least six people and seriously injures two after the aircraft caught fire mid-air and crashed into a residential block

Kenya medical plane crash claimed the lives of at least six people and seriously injured two others on Thursday after the aircraft crashed into a residential block near Nairobi, officials confirmed.

The small medical plane took off from Wilson Airport in Nairobi at 2:17 pm local time and was headed to Somaliland. It caught fire mid-air before crashing in Ruiru, Kiambu County, shortly after 3:00 pm.

Kiambu County Commissioner Henry Wafula reported that four people died aboard the aircraft, including the pilot, and two residents in the home where the plane crashed also lost their lives. Two others on the ground were seriously injured.

Residents described a terrifying scene as the burning plane passed close to buildings before crashing, scattering debris and body parts throughout the neighborhood. Many gathered at the site, offering comfort to those affected.

Amref Flying Doctors, which operated the Cessna Citation XLS involved in the crash, expressed deep concern for those on board and pledged to provide further updates as details become available.

This tragic event follows the fatal crash of a Ghana military helicopter on Wednesday, marking a somber period for aviation safety in the region.
