Krystn Enem reveals burnout forced an eight-year hiatus from television as she launches a new digital podcast project

Veteran television personality Krystn Enem has disclosed that severe burnout forced her to step away from broadcasting at the height of her career, bringing an unplanned eight-year hiatus to an end as she prepares a return to media.

Krystn Enem, who built a loyal audience through The Krystn Enem Show on PRTV before expanding to Africa Magic Urban on DSTV and GOTV, said the decision to withdraw became unavoidable after nearly a decade of relentless work.

Krystn Enem described reaching a breaking point physically, emotionally and financially.

“I took a break because I was tired, mentally, emotionally, physically, psychologically. Everything. I was even financially tired,” the media personality said.

“A lot had happened in my life, and I had been working non-stop for almost 10 years. My body just shut down. I couldn’t think.”

Before her departure from television, Krystn Enem had earned recognition for her warm, conversational interview style, hosting prominent Nigerian entertainers including Olamide, Falz, Yemi Alade, Simi, Denrele Edun and JJC Skillz.

The programme became known for its lively exchanges and access to major Afrobeats figures.

What began as a brief pause soon stretched far beyond its original intent.

Krystn Enem explained that a short creative block evolved into months away from the studio.

“One week of creative block became two weeks, then a month, then two months. I decided to take six months off, and life just kept happening,” the broadcaster said.

“What was supposed to be a six-month break ended up becoming an eight-year break.”

Reflecting on the time away from the spotlight, Krystn Enem described the period as transformative.

The hiatus coincided with significant personal milestones, including motherhood and relocation to the United States, experiences that reshaped her priorities and outlook.

Now returning with renewed clarity, Krystn Enem has launched a digital-first podcast, Conversations with Krystn Enem, available exclusively on YouTube and Spotify.

The project focuses on personal growth, identity, relationships and emotional wellbeing.

“Growth happens when we start talking. Life moves fast, but here, we slow it down,” she said.

The comeback marks what the broadcaster called a fresh chapter, blending her media expertise with corporate experience gained abroad.

After years away from the cameras, Krystn Enem’s return signals a deliberate and powerful reinvention rather than a simple resumption of past success.
