Kunle Remi made the remarks on his Instagram story, where he compared IShowSpeed’s experience in Nigeria with the streamer’s visits to other African countries, describing Nigeria as the worst destination on his personal list.
The actor expressed concern that Lagos, Nigeria’s cultural and commercial hub, has lost its essence, warning that its heritage has been overtaken by excess and superficiality.
According to Kunle Remi, nightlife culture, counterfeit alcohol and public begging now dominate the city, eroding the values that once defined it.
“After watching IShowSpeed’s journey so far, Nigeria is the worst on my own list,” Kunle Remi wrote.
“We have stripped Lagos naked. It seems like we’ve lost the essence of culture and our truth.”
The actor added that what remains visible to visitors is an unhealthy mix of clubs, fake drinks and street desperation, rather than authentic Nigerian culture.
IShowSpeed, a globally followed internet personality, was in Nigeria last week as part of a broader African tour that has drawn significant online attention and debate about how countries on the continent present themselves to the world.
Kunle Remi’s comments have since sparked conversations across social media, with users divided over whether his criticism reflects a harsh reality or unfair generalisation.
