Kwankwaso made the remarks in a message shared on his official X account on Tuesday, describing the moment as an opportunity to reflect on a long and enduring political partnership.
In the message, Kwankwaso said the relationship between both men spanned several years and different responsibilities within Kano State’s political structure.
“On this day, I appreciate the birthday of the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf,” Kwankwaso wrote.
The former governor recalled that Abba Yusuf first served as his Personal Assistant during his first term in office and ministerial period, before becoming Principal Private Assistant and later Commissioner during Kwankwaso’s second tenure as governor.
Kwankwaso said the experience gained through those roles helped prepare Abba Yusuf for leadership and contributed meaningfully to the policies and programmes implemented during that period.
He noted that Abba Yusuf played an active role in advancing development initiatives across the state, describing the journey as a shared commitment to public service and progress.
“I reflect on the many years of our shared political journey, during which he served in various important capacities; first as my Personal Assistant in my first term and as Minister, and then as Principal Private Assistant, and later as Commissioner during my second tenure, and now as Governor through which he contributed to the vision and programmes we pursued for the development of Kano State,” Kwankwaso said.
He added that the new year marked a moment of renewal and responsibility for the governor.
“I pray that this new year grants him wisdom, good health, and clarity of purpose,” he said.
