Kwara bandit operation sees police and vigilantes neutralise a suspect, recover AK-49 rifle and ammunition in swift tactical response
Kwara bandit operation has successfully neutralised a suspected bandit during a gun battle at Adekanbi village, near Bode-Saadu in Moro Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on Wednesday after security personnel launched a tactical operation following intelligence that criminals were occupying a fortified hilltop.
The joint team of police officers and vigilantes responded with a swift and superior counter-engagement when the bandits opened fire.
State Police Public Relations Officer SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi confirmed that the operation led to the recovery of one neutralised suspect, an AK-49 rifle, and 32 rounds of live ammunition.
She emphasised that the operation reflects the strategic direction of the state Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, and aligns with the national security framework of Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.
“This successful operation underscores the command’s enhanced capability and reinforced rapid-response strategy,” Ejire-Adeyemi said, reassuring residents of continued offensive operations across all identified flashpoints to maintain peace and security.
In a related development, Kebbi State police also neutralised a suspected bandit and arrested three others after armed attacks on residents in Botoro Gadi and Kwari communities.
Eight armed men had reportedly abducted two residents during the attacks, highlighting the persistent security challenges across the region.
