The decision marks a significant shift in the Assembly’s leadership. The Clerk of the House, Onafeko Olalekan, was also ousted during the session.

Following the removal, Deputy Speaker Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda was unanimously elected as the new Speaker, ushering in a new leadership era for the Lagos State legislature.

Efforts to reach Obasa’s Chief Press Secretary, Eromosele, and the removed Clerk, Onafeko Olalekan, were unsuccessful as they did not respond to repeated calls.

Further details regarding the reasons behind the removals and reactions from key stakeholders are expected to emerge.
