Severe traffic congestion on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has disrupted movement between Lagos and Ogun State, with some transport operators reportedly increasing fares to as much as ₦5,000 on affected routes.
The gridlock has been linked to ongoing repair work around the Kara Bridge corridor, a major section of the expressway that carries heavy daily traffic between Lagos and other parts of the South-West and beyond.
Motorists and commuters have faced prolonged delays as vehicles struggle to move through the affected section, with the congestion reportedly extending to adjoining routes.
The disruption has also affected commercial transport operators, with some passengers reportedly paying significantly higher fares as drivers contend with longer journey times, increased fuel consumption and traffic diversions.
A fatal road crash was also reportedly recorded near Ipara Remo, with four people said to have died in the incident.
