Festival Director, Mr Muyiwa Kayode, who is also the creator of the multiple award-winning animation series, Turtle Taido, said; “ LIFANIMA provides the platform for development of African animation and rapid growth of the animation film industry.”

Over the years, LIFANIMA has seen a steady increase in submission of films across the categories of 2D animation, 3D animation, animation commercials, visual effects and stop motion.

He disclosed that the festival will feature screening of selected works, award presentations, networking and entertainment. It will also attract animators, local and foreign filmmakers, musical video producers, media practitioners, digital marketing professionals, government agencies, information technology/manufacturers and the general public.

Talking about activities for the festival, Kayode said, “ On Day 1, the festival will feature screening of selected works, and a special panel session on the historic creative industry intervention fund, Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises I-DICE.

“This Federal Government Initiative is a $617 million fund to support the creative and digital/tech entrepreneurs. Animation is expected to be a major beneficiary of the fund. Top executives from Bank of Industry, managers of the fund, will be on a panel session to explain the details about the fund and the expected impact on the industry.

“On Day 2 of the festival, there will be virtual panel sessions featuring both local and international animation experts. A special session titled Animation Production Pipeline with veteran American animator and producer, Artie Romero.

“The festival comes to an end on Day 3 with a Cocktail Party, Animation Film Screening, Musical Performances, and Award Presentation.”

“LIFANIMA is endorsed by the Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board, LSFVCB and this year, the fast-growing festival received 1088 submission from 111 countries, including 24 African countries.” he concludes.
