The management of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has responded to the viral report on Freelanews and alleged that desperate robbers have resorted to using towing vans with the inscription of the agency to steal people’s cars from parking lots in Lagos state.
Though one of the suspects has been apprehended and is currently being interrogated by the police, LASTMA denied any affiliation with the driver, claiming that he was impersonating the agency.

A viral video has surfaced showing the owner of an SUV that was being towed by the thieves with a towing van boldly displaying the LASTMA sticker.
In a statement by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, it was revealed that the arrested driver, Adejumo Fatai, impersonated a LASTMA towing wan operator. He had a fake identity card and a fake LASTMA tow franchisee’s sticker.
While the general manager of LASTMA, Bolaji Oreagba, urged the public to be cautious of unscrupulous individuals attempting to tarnish the agency’s reputation.
