Senator Lere Oyewumi, PhD, has called for a full-scale investigation into an alleged violent incident and reported abduction involving members of the Accord Party in Ilesa East Local Government Area of Osun State.
In a post on his official X handle on Thursday night, Senator Oyewumi condemned the reported attack at Value Mall, Okesa, Ilesa, calling on security agencies to ensure accountability.
According to the senator, Mr Kasumu Simiyu, Treasurer of Accord Ward 07, and Mr Dagunduro Iyiola were allegedly abducted following the incident, which he described as involving armed individuals.
He further alleged that video footage from the scene shows the attackers arriving in a Toyota Sienna vehicle bearing APC insignia linked to party aspirant Hon. Kujenbola.
Senator Oyewumi stated that video recordings said to have captured the incident were also circulating online, calling for a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter.
The Ilesa abduction allegation has since drawn attention from political observers, with growing calls for security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services, to intervene and establish the facts surrounding the incident.
In his appeal, the senator stressed the need for justice, insisting that anyone found responsible should be held accountable regardless of political affiliation or status.
The circumstances surrounding the reported attack remain under investigation.
