[dropcap]T[/dropcap]osin Adedayo, the local government chairman of Emure, has been accused of illegally selling the Emure House, valued at ₦70 million, for a mere ₦8.5 million to his political godfather.
The house, located in Irewolede Estate, Ado Ekiti, has a long history of being maintained by successive local government leaders since its purchase in 2008 for ₦12.5 million during the regime of Hon Peter Ogundoro.

The Emure House has been consistently maintained by a series of LG chairs: Hon Sesan Aruaji (2009-2010), Hon Muyiwa Abegunde (2010-2012), Hon Febisola Adewale (2013-2014), Hon Taiwo Oguntuase (2015-2017), Hon Olu Okeya (2017-2019), Hon Paul Awopetu (2020-2021), and Hon Adu Joseph (2021-2023).
However, the recent sale by Hon Tosin Adedayo, also known as Wacco, has sparked outrage and allegations of corruption.
According to information garnered by Freelanews, ₦10 million was allocated for the maintenance of the Emure House in the 2024 budget, yet the property was sold at a fraction of its current market value, estimated between ₦80 million and ₦100 million.
Additionally, there are broader allegations of misconduct within the local government by the chairman, including claims of ₦975,000 monthly for fuelling a generator that has not been operated for nearly twelve months.
Furthermore, it is reported that the Head of Local Administration (HLA) claims residential rent despite not residing in Emure.
The chairman, who has boasted about his connections to the governor, must now face these serious allegations.
The community is calling for transparency and accountability, emphasising that the property, as a valuable asset of Emure Local Government, should have been offered to Emure indigenes first if a sale was necessary.
The illegal sale of the Emure House is seen as a significant breach of public trust, and local residents demand answers and appropriate actions against those involved.
