Liverpool crush Galatasaray in emphatic UCL comeback

Liverpool crush Galatasaray 4-0 to reach the Champions League quarter-finals, overturning a first-leg deficit in dominant style

Liverpool FC delivered an emphatic performance to defeat Galatasaray 4-0 at Anfield, overturning a first-leg deficit to secure a place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

Goals from Dominik Szoboszlai, Hugo Ekitike, Ryan Gravenberch and Mohamed Salah sealed a commanding 4-1 aggregate victory and set up a quarter-final reunion with Paris Saint-Germain.

Manager Arne Slot demanded a response after recent domestic struggles, and his side delivered with a dominant display that revived belief in their European campaign.

The hosts started brightly, while Galatasaray suffered an early setback when Victor Osimhen sustained a forearm injury following a clash with Ibrahima Konaté.

The striker struggled on until half-time before being substituted.

Liverpool levelled the tie midway through the first half when Dominik Szoboszlai finished calmly from a well-worked corner routine.

Despite creating several chances, including a missed opportunity and saved penalty by Mohamed Salah, the Reds failed to extend their lead before the interval.

The second half, however, produced a decisive and relentless surge.

Mohamed Salah redeemed himself with a precise assist for Hugo Ekitike to score, before Ryan Gravenberch added a third moments later from close range.

Mohamed Salah then crowned his performance with a stunning strike to register his 50th Champions League goal, a milestone moment that added gloss to a powerful team display.

Liverpool could have scored more, with Mohamed Salah hitting the crossbar before being withdrawn late with a minor injury concern.

The result offers a timely boost for Arne Slot, whose side have struggled in the Premier League and currently sit outside the top four.

Liverpool crush Galatasaray in a result that keeps their European hopes alive and could yet define their season.

Attention now turns to a high-stakes clash with Paris Saint-Germain, who progressed in dominant fashion and present a far sterner test in the next round.
