James Maddison inspired Tottenham Hotspur to their first Premier League win of the season with a stunning goal in a 3-1 victory over Coventry City on Monday.
The midfielder, making his first start in 17 months after a lengthy injury layoff, opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a brilliant curled effort from outside the box.
Maddison’s strike against his former club gave Spurs their first lead of the Premier League campaign.
Coventry equalised early in the second half through Jack Rudoni, but Omar Marmoush restored Tottenham’s advantage in the 58th minute with his first goal for the club.
Ben Davies sealed the win with a late goal in stoppage time.
The result lifted Tottenham off the bottom of the table and marked their first league victory at the seventh attempt this season.
Dejan Kulusevski also returned from a long-term injury as a substitute, adding to the positive night for manager Roberto De Zerbi’s side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
