Manchester United Osimhen transfer

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Manchester United are strategically planning a potential move for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as the 2024/25 season concludes, with Champions League qualification being a key factor

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]ccording to renowned football transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are actively strategizing a potential move for Nigerian international striker Victor Osimhen as the current 2024/25 football campaign nears its end.

It has been widely reported that the Red Devils are eager to strengthen their attacking options, with Osimhen consistently identified as a primary target over the past two seasons.

However, Romano indicates that Manchester United’s pursuit of the Nigerian goal-scorer is contingent on their performance in the Europa League.

The club is reportedly waiting to determine if they will secure qualification for the prestigious UEFA Champions League next season before actively pursuing a deal for Osimhen.

Speaking to TeamTalk, Romano stated, “There is nothing agreed with any club at the moment, also, because for Man United, as we said for [Liam] Delap, it’s the same for Osimhen and other targets.”

He further elaborated on the club’s strategy, saying, “Man United are waiting to understand about the Europa League, whether they will play Champions League football next season or not.”

Man United are waiting to understand about the Europa League, whether they will play Champions League football next season or not… There is interest in Osimhen for sure, from Man United,” according to Fabrizio Romano.

Romano emphasized the financial implications of Champions League qualification for Manchester United’s transfer plans, noting,

“Man United are waiting to understand how much they can really invest in the summer transfer window on the striker, and obviously a Champions League budget would be completely different.”

Despite the conditional nature of the potential transfer, Romano confirmed Manchester United’s interest in the Napoli striker, concluding, “So that’s going to be a really important point for United. There is interest in Osimhen for sure, from Man United.”

This update suggests that while Osimhen remains a key target for Manchester United, the club’s ability to secure Champions League football will significantly influence their pursuit of the highly-rated Nigerian forward in the upcoming summer transfer window.
