MarkHack 5.0 Explores Culture at a Lagos conference examining how AI shapes identity, media and creativity in Nigeria

Organisers said the conference, themed “The Culture Algorithm: AI × Human Experience,” will examine how algorithms increasingly shape identity, behaviour, storytelling and consumer engagement across Nigeria and Africa.

The event is organised by GDM Group in partnership with Eko Innovation Centre and Brand Communicator.

The organisers described the 2026 edition as a decisive shift from tool-driven AI discussions to a culture-first approach.

MarkHack 5.0 Explores Culture against a backdrop of rapid AI adoption across marketing, media and the creative economy.

Conveners said the forum will encourage deeper reflection on ethics, meaning and human agency in an algorithm-driven world.

The conference will feature keynote sessions and fireside conversations with founders, creatives, researchers and policymakers.

Speakers will assess how AI influences media systems, consumer trust and cultural production.

A multidisciplinary hackathon and demo day will spotlight startups building solutions at the intersection of AI and human experience.

Selected teams will present live demonstrations, with standout innovations receiving recognition.

Immersive content sessions will allow filmmakers and digital creators to experiment with emerging storytelling formats shaped by technology.

Consumer-led panels will also examine how everyday users experience AI-powered platforms and digital products.

Exhibitions by startups and corporates will showcase new tools redefining marketing, lifestyle and engagement strategies.

An awards segment will honour individuals and organisations driving meaningful change within Nigeria’s marketing and technology ecosystem.

Launched in 2022 as Nigeria’s first marketing and media hackathon, MarkHack has since evolved into a full-scale conference and thought-leadership platform.

Organisers said the transformation mirrors a broader industry shift towards examining how technology shapes culture and values.

Registration is open via the conference website, with applications closing on 31 March 2026.

Organisers encouraged marketers, founders, investors and creators to participate in what they described as a powerful platform for collaboration and insight.
