It’s hard to keep up with all the latest moves across media, marketing and advertising, so we’ve made a list. Check out the biggest moves in the industry this week.

Facebook boosts creative team
Facebook has boosted its Creative Shop team with three new senior hires. Joining the company’s internal team of creative strategists are Jay Morgan, Stef DiGianvincenzo and Ollie Beeston. Morgan joins from The Monkeys where he was creative and innovations director, DiGianvincenzo joins following a stint as strategic director at Google, and Beeston joins from Clemenger BBDO Sydney where he was creative group head. The addition brings the Creative Shop team to seven.

BuzzFeed’s new local business lead
BuzzFeed has appointed Nicki Williams as the new local business lead for BuzzFeed Australia. Williams joined the company in 2017, and was most recently its group client director for APAC. She will take over from Andrea Ingham, who left BuzzFeed earlier this year to relocate. Her appointment comes just days after BuzzFeed announced it was ceasing its news operations in Australia and the UK.

Ex-MediCom duo launch agency
Former MediaCom strategy and innovation leads Mike Deane and Tim Russell have partnered to launch Saintsmiths, a communications consultancy to address the “messiness” of marketing. Collectively Deane and Russell have more than 35 years of global media, digital and creative agency experience. Deane has spent more than two years as MediaCom’s chief strategy officer across Australia and New Zealand, while Russell was most recently consulting with Fonterra’s global team, reviewing and relaunching the company’s planning process across 12 APAC markets.

Ad Standards boss departs
Ad Standards CEO Fiona Jolly is stepping down after nearly 15 years at the organisation. Jolly is exiting to pursue other opportunities. “Through Fiona’s leadership, the advertising complaints system in Australia has received global recognition of effectiveness, as well as recognition of Ad Standards’ commitment to advancing the role and integrity of advertising self-regulation,” says Ad Standards chair David Scribner.

Splendid Suggestions adds former Ogilvy talent
Specialist B2B technology marketing agency Splendid Suggestions has appointed Jennifer Greatrex as head of client services. Greatrex has more than 15 years’ experience as a senior B2B technology strategy and marketing executive. Before joining the Splendid team, Greatrex held a range of senior agency positions in Australia and the USA, including group account director at Ogilvy Australia for four years where she headed up B2B-focused projects for Optus Enterprise, Scentre Group and SAI Global.

Spoke Corporate expands
Investor relations and consumer marketing agency Spoke Corporate is expanding with the launch of a Sydney office. To help with the launch, the agency has appointed Antonios Papaspiropoulos as general manager for commercial and investor relations based in Perth, while Samantha Zoratto has been appointed as general manager of consumer marketing and strategic events, based in Sydney. Papaspiropoulos has previously led the public affairs function for multinationals Shell, Chevron and BHP. Zoratto joins Spoke after working for major brands including Urban List and Fairfax Media’s Good Food.
