Naira abuse conviction lands TikToker G-Fresh and singer Hamisu Breaker in jail as Kano court sentences them for spraying naira notes during social events

Justice S.M. Shuaibu of the Federal High Court, Kano, delivered the ruling following their arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on separate one-count charges bordering on naira abuse.

The charges violated Section 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, 2007.

According to the EFCC, G-Fresh sprayed and stomped on ₦14,000 in ₦1000 notes while dancing in a shop at Tarauni LGA in November 2024.

Hamisu Breaker, on his part, sprayed ₦30,000 in ₦200 notes during a social gathering in Hadejia, Jigawa State.

Both defendants pleaded guilty. EFCC’s counsel, Zarami Mohammed, presented evidence that led the court to convict and sentence them.

Each was given a five-month jail term with an option of a ₦200,000 fine.
