Nigerian gospel minister and pastor Nathaniel Bassey has recounted how an alleged traditional spiritualist attempted to place him under a spell during a roadside encounter, describing the episode as a failed “juju” attack.

Speaking during a recent worship session, Nathaniel Bassey told congregants that the incident occurred along an express road and marked the second time the same individual had approached him.
Nathaniel Bassey said the man knocked on his car window and began what Nathaniel Bassey described as casting an enchantment, allegedly attempting to command him to act under spiritual influence.
“I just stood there and laughed,” Nathaniel Bassey recounted, explaining that he responded by declaring Bible verses affirming divine protection.
Nathaniel Bassey cited the scripture that states, “Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm,” adding that the man appeared to remain at the scene waiting for the spell to take effect.
Referring to another biblical passage, Numbers 23:23, Nathaniel Bassey said, “There is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel,” underscoring his belief that the alleged attempt would not succeed.
Nathaniel Bassey said he eventually stepped out of the vehicle and ordered the man to leave immediately.
Reflecting on the encounter, Nathaniel Bassey expressed regret that he did not detain the individual and alert law enforcement authorities.
The Nathaniel Bassey juju attack account was not, according to the cleric, intended to glorify evil.
Instead, Nathaniel Bassey said the testimony was meant to highlight what he described as the reality of spiritual wickedness and the power of faith.
“I’m not saying this to boast,” Nathaniel Bassey told worshippers.
“While we do not glorify the devil, there is wickedness in the world.”

The account has since drawn widespread attention online, with supporters praising what they described as a resolute display of faith during an unsettling roadside encounter.
