The appointment was approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement issued by Mr Netufo, he described the decision as both perfect and timely, noting that Sarkin-Adar’s background in public service positioned him strongly for the role.

He cited his previous tenure as Chairman of the National Inland Waterways Authority and his service in the House of Representatives as evidence of his capacity to deliver purposeful leadership.

Mr Netufo praised Sarkin-Adar’s reputation for integrity and strategic foresight, expressing confidence that his stewardship would reinforce transparency and accountability across Nigeria’s extractive sector.

He added that the new appointee’s leadership style was well aligned with NEITI’s mandate to strengthen governance standards.
