More than 500 participants, including editors, government officials, business leaders, diplomats, and other stakeholders, are expected at the two-day event, which will hold at the Presidential Villa Banquet Hall and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Conference Centre, Jahi, Abuja.

According to a statement jointly signed by NGE President, Eze Anaba, and General Secretary, Onuoha Ukeh, President Bola Tinubu will declare the conference open on November 12 at the Presidential Villa.

The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Saad Abubakar, and Prince Nduka Obaigbena, Chairman of Arise News and ThisDay newspaper, will serve as Chairmen of the conference.

The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, will deliver the keynote address on the theme: “Democratic Governance and National Cohesion: The Role of Editors.”

The sub-theme, “Electoral Integrity and Trust Deficit: What Nigerians Expect in 2027,” will explore public expectations ahead of the next general elections.

The Guild noted that the conference provides a credible platform to deliberate on issues of national development, cohesion, and journalism ethics.

Other speakers include Prof. Awa Kalu (SAN), who will present a paper on “Election Disputes and Judicial Integrity:

Navigating the Thin Line Between Law and Politics,” and Prof. Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim, HOD, Political Science and International Relations, University of Abuja, who will discuss “State of the Nation: Imperative of Economic and Political Reforms in a Challenged Nation.”

The second day will feature Gen. Lucky Irabor (rtd), former Chief of Defence Staff, speaking on “Media, Terrorism, and National Security:

Addressing the Complexities,” and Prof. Abiodun Adeniyi, Dean of Post-Graduate Studies, Baze University, who will address “The Evolving Face of Journalism: Battling Misinformation, AI Disruption, and Credibility Gap.”

An Executive Session will also be held on November 13, where editors will engage government officials, political figures, and business leaders on national issues.
