Two Nollywood crew members were found dead in a parked vehicle in Lekki, Lagos, prompting a police investigation into the cause

Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation following the death of two Nollywood crew members, Ekemini “GeeTee” Imeh and Ayodeji Walter Odediran, who were discovered unresponsive inside a vehicle at a film location in Lekki, Lagos State, on Saturday, 7 February 2026.

Police sources indicated that the deceased arrived early to set up lighting equipment at the filming location within the Evercare Hospital premises, which was being used for the production directed by former Big Brother Naija housemate Boma Akpore.

After completing their setup, the men reportedly rested inside a parked Nissan vehicle while awaiting the next phase of filming.

Concerns arose when calls to their phones went unanswered.

Around 11 a.m., a fellow crew member reportedly delivered breakfast to the vehicle, finding the men in good condition with the air conditioner running.

They were later discovered lifeless at approximately 8 p.m. following the conclusion of filming.

Preliminary observations reportedly included foaming at the mouth and, in one case, bloodstains around the nose and lips.

Another source confirmed that the incident was reported at Maroko Police Station, and closed-circuit television footage from the premises is under review.

The bodies have been deposited at a morgue as forensic examinations, including autopsy and toxicology tests, are conducted to determine the precise cause of death.

Imeh, the chief executive officer of a lighting company, was widely respected in the Nigerian film industry for his technical expertise, contributing to major productions including King of Boys and music videos for leading artistes such as Davido.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer Abimbola Adebisi confirmed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department at Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.

The tragedy comes shortly after gospel musician Matthew Ogundele, popularly known as Segun Praise, and three members of his crew were found dead in a music studio in the Abraham Adesanya area of Ajah, Lagos, raising renewed concerns over safety and welfare conditions within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
