Contrary to reports being circulated in the media about the demise of the former governor of Oyo State, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, Freelanews has learnt that the Oyo State APC leader is alive.
Recall the former governor recently made headlines when he slipped into coma while being treated for the novel coronavirus.
Constituted Authority, as he is popularly referred, was moved to a Lagos based highbrow hospital, First Cardiologist, after he was diagnosed of the dreaded coronavirus pandemic about 20 days ago, sources said, slipped into unconsciousness on June 8 while doctors have since been battling to revive him.
First Cardiologist was the hospital where the former chief of staff to President Buhari, Mallam Abba Kyari, was treated of coronavirus before he died.
Inside sources claimed that when the former governor’s health deteriorated after he suffered cardiac arrest the first time and was placed on a ventilator at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) immediately, doctors attending to him were said to have recommended a particular drug for his treatment.
But new reports suggested he has since stabilised and responding to treatments.
Upon the renewed speculation about his health, Ajimobi’s spokesman, Bolaji Tunji, told that his principal is alive.
“I spoke with those around him not long ago and they confirmed to me that he is still alive. Please disregard news of his death as fake news,” Tunji.
The former governor, who was named the acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress on Tuesday, had been on quarantine for over two weeks, battling COVID-19.
