NPF Vigilant App has been officially launched by the Nigeria Police Force to enable Nigerians to report suspected financial fraud, upload evidence and track the progress of their cases.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, unveiled the application on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the NPF Conference Centre in Jabi, Abuja. The launch also included the NPF–MTN Closed User Group (CUG) Network, both initiatives aimed at strengthening the Force’s digital transformation, public engagement and operational communication.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the NPF Vigilant App was developed by the Force ICT Department in collaboration with stakeholders in the financial services sector. It provides a citizen-facing platform through which members of the public can submit fraud reports, upload supporting evidence, monitor the status of their complaints and receive feedback.
The application is designed to facilitate coordination with relevant institutions, including banks and other financial bodies, in accordance with existing laws and procedures.
The launch event was attended by representatives of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion, the Police Service Commission, the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS), financial institutions, fintech companies, MTN Nigeria, Vigilant Technology Limited, TIMPH International Limited and other partners.
In his remarks, IGP Disu described the platforms as a practical step in the Force’s digital transformation drive. He noted that the NPF Vigilant App would strengthen engagement with the public, while the CUG Network would improve internal communication among police personnel nationwide, making the Force more connected, responsive and effective.
The NPF–MTN Closed User Group Network provides police officers with secure and affordable on-net communication to support emergency coordination and operational response.
The Inspector-General urged Nigerians to download the NPF Vigilant App from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store and use it responsibly to report suspected financial fraud.
The Nigeria Police Force expressed appreciation to the CBN, Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion, NIBSS, financial institutions, fintech companies, MTN Nigeria and other partners for their contributions to the development and successful launch of the platforms.
The introduction of the NPF Vigilant App forms part of ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to leverage technology in combating financial crimes and improving service delivery to the public.
Citizens are encouraged to utilise the new digital tool to report suspected cases of financial fraud promptly and support the Force in its fight against economic crimes.
