Ogbunike Nurse Murder: Anambra Police arrest 24-year-old woman linked to the mutilation and sale of a pregnant nurse’s body parts. Hunt for prime suspect ongoing
Ogbunike Nurse Murder has sent shockwaves across Anambra State, following the arrest of a 24-year-old woman, Somtochukwu Nwafor, linked to the gruesome killing and mutilation of a pregnant nurse.

According to the Anambra State Police Command, the victim’s body was discovered in a soakaway pit in Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area. The prime suspect, Chiemerie Obika Elobisi — Somtochukwu’s boyfriend is currently on the run.
Police investigations reveal Elobisi lured the nurse to his home under the guise of seeking treatment. He allegedly murdered her, decapitated the body, and sold parts to a native doctor.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesperson, said Somtochukwu confessed to helping clean up the crime scene.
“She further revealed how they sell the body parts to different native doctors in the area,” the statement disclosed.
In a follow-up raid on July 29, police operatives burst a shrine belonging to a native doctor identified as Nwafor Chibunna Ofornwatadile, where human parts were recovered, sealed in nylon bags.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has described the act as “inhumane, criminal, and an affront to public morality and the sanctity of life,” urging anyone with useful information to come forward.

The Ogbunike Nurse Murder has reignited public concern over ritual killings and the rising use of traditional shrines for criminal activity in southeastern Nigeria. A manhunt is ongoing for Elobisi and others involved.
