Ondo tipper truck accident claims life of 9-year-old girl in Akungba-Akoko as police confirm driver’s arrest and investigation begins
A devastating tipper truck accident on Sunday, March 29, 2026, in Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, has claimed the life of a nine-year-old girl after she was struck by a vehicle in a heartbreaking incident that has thrown the community into mourning.

The Ondo tipper truck accident girl death was confirmed on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, who said the driver of the unregistered Mercedes-Benz tipper truck has been arrested.
According to the police statement, the girl was knocked down by the vehicle and rushed to a hospital, where medical personnel confirmed her dead on arrival.
The incident has been described as deeply tragic and avoidable.
Authorities stated that the vehicle has been recovered for inspection as part of ongoing investigations aimed at establishing the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.
DSP Jimoh expressed condolences to the bereaved family and assured the public that justice would be pursued.
He also urged motorists to exercise caution and strictly adhere to traffic regulations to prevent similar incidents.
Investigations are currently ongoing as security operatives work to determine whether negligence or other factors contributed to the fatal accident.
