The incident occurred at about 3am on Friday at a residential and commercial property located on Afubera Street, sparking panic among residents.
Witnesses said the victim, described as a site supervisor attached to a factory operating within the building, had been accused of theft prior to the incident.
A resident, who identified herself as Chichi, alleged that the man was beaten, restrained and locked in a room for several days before his death.
According to her account, residents were awakened by a loud noise in the early hours of Friday, after which the victim was found lying motionless on the ground.
Police authorities, however, said multiple accounts have emerged regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident, underscoring the complexity of the case.
The spokesperson for the command, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that key suspects had been arrested and are currently in custody as investigations intensify.
Ikenga said while some reports suggest the victim may have been pushed from the building, others indicate he could have attempted to escape confinement, leading to the fatal fall.
He added that an autopsy would be conducted to establish the exact cause of death, noting that all angles are being examined to ensure accountability.
When visited on Sunday, the scene remained tense, with residents gathered in small groups while police operatives maintained a presence in the area.
