Booda Muyi, I remember you as always

It was the normal waiting in the popular Klink Studio in Surulere, where Mr. Kinsley Ogoro played host to many successful artistes today.

He was loving, patient and love his equipment

I was a regular backup singer, jingle and voice over studio rat, ever ready to contribute to the script. I was still at Yaba Tech studying Computer Science. Mama, the food seller next door is ever ready to serve us with bread and beans, okele with assorted meat.

On that faithful day, I met Prince Alade Aromire and Prince Jide Kosoko through Mr Wale Adewuyi and my friend Yomi Omidiran, who later produced my first album, My Root, not forgetting Mickey Dread (Presy); I was in his band and singing. I was very happy and quickly attended to them while they book for a film sound track.

That was the beginning of my journey into the movie world.

Prince Alade Aromire met with a lot insult from my family, who believed he influenced my diversion from Computer Science into full entertainment, music and movie, at the time Computer Science was highly lucrative with very few experts.

I remembered doing some modelling but my height will never allow me to move further, as they only call me when they need ‘fine face’.

A senior colleaque, Mr. Paul Obazele was actually my first oga who taught me rudiments of acting and modelling, but my mother must not know as I was looking for admission, so I could only sneak to Surulere while looking for job.

Since the day I met Prince Alade Aromire, he became my father, brother, teacher and boss as it took him almost 5 years to convince my disciplinarian mother, who later gave me her blessing as I launched my first film, Omo Oko, in 1995.

I got to Jide Soleye Hospital that day as you took your last breath, I could not say goodbye.

Today, I remember you as always
You were special
You were a genius
You loved me like a daughter

You taught me
Acting
TV Presentation
Cinematography
Editing
Movie Production
Movie Directing

Thank you Booda Muyi
Keep resting in the Lord
Mr Movie
