Orji Kalu China training programmes praised as tools for transformation, as more Abia North constituents travel for international skills development

Speaking during an appreciation visit by beneficiaries of international training programmes sponsored through his partnership with the Chinese government, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu described the initiatives as “a bridge to national transformation”.

He noted the increasing number of Nigerian students and trainees in China as a vote of confidence by Beijing in Nigeria’s human potential, emphasising that these opportunities help his constituents — especially from Abia North — gain valuable global exposure.

“The partnerships we’ve fostered with the Chinese government are giving young Nigerians the chance to build capacity for a brighter future,” Kalu said. “These programmes represent more than just academic knowledge — they stand for innovation, creativity, and global leadership.”

Kalu expressed deep appreciation to Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, for his commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and sustaining what he called a “win-win cooperation” between both nations.

The Senator, who also runs the Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation, has facilitated multiple capacity-building trips for Nigerians, targeting areas such as marine biodiversity, technology, and management.

The latest batch (5th) of beneficiaries departed Nigeria on September 16, en route to Beijing, for a senior management seminar on Marine Biodiversity Conservation for Developing Countries, organised by the Fujian Institute of Oceanography.

Kalu revealed that the 4th batch, which left on September 1st, has already settled into academic life in China and is actively engaging with world-class faculty and curriculum.

He added, “President Xi Jinping, through Ambassador Yu Dunhai, has shown what true partnership looks like. It’s not just about diplomatic ties, it’s about building people.”

The business mogul-turned-politician reiterated his commitment to youth empowerment, stating that students under his foundation will return better equipped to contribute to Nigeria’s development using global knowledge and best practices.

With this latest training programme, the number of Nigerians benefiting from the Orji Kalu China training pipeline continues to grow, underlining a broader trend of strategic people-focused diplomacy between Nigeria and China.
