Residents reported that unidentified gunmen struck minutes to midnight on Sunday at a private residence along Aran Orin Road in the Papa area of Ora Igbomina, a community bordering Kwara State, and forcefully took two men into nearby bushland after firing gunshots into the air.
A resident, Mulikat, said gunshots were heard around 11:30pm before the assailants entered the house and seized the victims.
Mulikat stated that some men attempted to pursue the abductors but could not continue into the bush. Mulikat added that the attackers were suspected to be bandits.
Abiodun Ojelabi identified the victims as Tayese Adeyeye and Sunday Adewumi. Abiodun Ojelabi explained that patrol officers had briefly returned to base due to rainfall shortly before the attack occurred.
Abiodun Ojelabi said search teams moved into the area immediately after the report was received and have been combing the surroundings in an effort to locate the victims.
The incident comes less than two months after Emmanuel Owolabi, a retired Customs officer, was abducted in front of his residence in the same community on 15 December 2025 by suspected gunmen.
Emmanuel Owolabi was later released on 12 January at Oro Ago in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State after a ransom reportedly running into millions of naira was paid.
