Dr. Okupe, who hailed from Iperu, Ogun State, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the age of 72, just 15 days before his birthday.
His death follows weeks of critical illness, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication to Nigeria.
In his tribute, Otunba Daniel described Dr. Okupe as a bold, articulate, and highly resourceful leader who played a significant role in national discourse and governance.
He acknowledged Okupe’s contributions to Nigeria’s political landscape, stating that his wealth of experience and fearless approach to public service will be greatly missed.
The senator further noted that his passing is a great loss to Ogun State and the entire nation, as he was a man deeply committed to progress and good governance.
