Governor Seyi Makinde insists PDP is not dead, says unity and hard work will help the party reclaim power despite internal crises
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has dismissed speculations about the decline of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring that the opposition party remains alive and capable of reclaiming power.

Makinde gave the assurance in Lagos on Thursday after attending the PDP Southwest zoning consultative summit, stressing that the party is “not dead” despite its internal challenges.
“In all our states, they showed last Saturday that PDP is not dead,” Makinde said. “In most other places of the 12 states, PDP came second. It is an indication that if we continue to work hard, we can reclaim the confidence of Nigerians.”
The governor emphasized that rebuilding the party’s strength and unity must take priority before discussions about presidential candidates.
“We haven’t even gotten there. We need to have a party first before you start talking about presidential candidates. If we don’t have a party, anything you are trying to do will fall flat,” he stated.
Makinde also cautioned against personal conflicts within the party, saying he would not descend into unnecessary quarrels.
“Personally, when people go low or go into the gutters, I don’t go with them. Some people are now going into the gutters.
We will reach out to them. I can disagree with people, but there shouldn’t be anything personal here. That is democracy,” he said.
