Fregene, still on life support, has been transferred to Oghara Teaching Hospital for urgent care as his condition remains critical.

[dropcap]F[/dropcap]ormer Nigerian international goalkeeper Peter Fregene remains in a critical condition as he battles for his life at Obule Medical Centre in Sapele.

Fregene, who has been on life support for four days, is unconscious and being kept alive by an oxygen cylinder.

Despite the hospital’s best efforts, his condition has not shown significant improvement, prompting an urgent transfer to the Teaching Hospital in Oghara for more advanced medical evaluation.

Dr Olusegun Odegbami, former Nigerian footballer, shared an update on Fregene’s situation, revealing that doctors have described it as “touch and go.”

Fregene’s wife, Tina, has been tirelessly by his side, providing care throughout his long medical ordeal. She remains hopeful and faithful, despite the grim outlook, trusting that her husband will recover.

Speaking about Fregene’s condition, the doctor on duty stated: “We are doing our best for him here, but I am not God. He is still alive and breathing, but his condition remains severe.”

Tina has confirmed that the family will move Fregene by ambulance to Oghara this morning for further treatment.

Calls from the Federal Ministry of Sports Development in Abuja and the Delta State Ministry of Sports have also shown support, with promises to follow up on his condition.

In addition to the medical support, spiritual assistance has been offered by friends and well-wishers.

Bishop Felix Femi Ajakaye of the Catholic Diocese of Ekiti prayed for Fregene, offering hope in the face of uncertainty.

Fregene, once a formidable force in Nigerian football, now faces his greatest challenge yet, with his family and the football world rallying in support.
